Oral hygeine is often overlooked on our best friends'. It is our responsibility to make sure their teeth/gums are just as looked after as our own!
During each visit to the salon, your dog will have their teeth looked at and if anything out of the ordinary is discovered, it will be brought to your attention so that a visit to your vet can be arranged. This could be a preemptive strike on a potential health problem!
Tooth brushing helps control tartar, bad breath and fight gum disease. Peridontal disease can cause a varity of health issues including tooth loss, abseccess and can also extend beyond the teeth and contribute to cardiac (heart), hepatic (liver) and renal (kidney) problems.
In addition to having teeth brushed by you (at least 2-3 times a week) or even if only at the salon(6-12 times a year), your dogs' teeth should be checked and/or professionally cleaned by your vet on a yearly basis.
If you choose to add teeth/gums treatment to your service, your dog will have their teeth and gums rubbed with a soothing, healing gel to help aid and prevent in the disolving of tartar. It will also help with the sometimes overwhelming smell of "doggie breath". For full benefits of this service, ask me about the "Oxyfresh" program!
I use this program on my own dog and the results were dramatic and still are!

The first day "Sable" had red, irritated gums and alot of tartar build up. Within a week the redness was gone and in the second picture(1 month after) you can see there is less tartar! I usually have her teeth cleaned professionally by my vet every other year but now I think she can go longer with this excellent program!

If your dog has skin or coat issues, it may be in their best interest to be on a bi-weekly maintance program that is offered at a discounted rate. It is beneficial to bathe them more often with the medicated shampoos that are designed to heal and help keep issues under control.
I have had great results with the high quality medicated shampoo I use, but you are welcome to bring your own "vet prescribed" shampoo.
Because medicated shampoos need additional time to absorb into the skin/coat before rinsing, there will be an additional charge for this service.

If ever your female dog gets mistaken for being a BOY, then this is the option for you!
When you own a short coated dog it is sometimes hard to give a finishing touch such as a barrett or bow when there is no hair to attach it to! Polishing the nails gives a special, extra touch and your best friend will love the extra attention given to those that see them!
Polished nails can only be given to long coated dogs' that have shaved feet (to avoid polish in the coat, and of course to show off those pretty toes!)

For additional charges for this service please visit the pricing page under the main menu.
If you are like most dog owners, you have as many pictures of your best friends'(if not more) than you do of the rest of your family! Why not have a picture of them looking there best, with their fresh, clean style they just received!
At the end of the grooming session, I will take a digital picture of your best friend and spruce it up with a fun background or even just a natural picture if you choose.

If you would like this additional option added to your service, please visit the pricing page for charges.
As always at PAWSitive Reflections these additional items are included at no extra charge!
