After your dog has had their nails clipped, ears cleaned, bath and fluff dried we begin the actual haircut/ style process!
First, we start with the sanitary areas:
The hair between the pads will be shaved to help improve traction and lessen the amount of debris tracked into your home. The hair around the genitals and anus will be carefully shaved or trimmed (depending on sensitivity) to prevent urine and feces from adhering to the coat causing bacteria growth, staining, and irritation due to an externally blocked anus. (During the bath, the anal sacs will only be checked externally as I recommed a visit to your vet for expression of the sacs/glands.) A small area of the belly will also be shaved for a more neat/clean appearance. The corners of the eyes may also be shaved to help keep crust from forming from tearing.
Now we are ready for the body hair to be cut and styled as chosen during consultation!
After the haircut is complete, there will be a "comb-through" to neaten any stray hairs and also to help remove as much loose hair as possible. (this process helps to keep tiny hairs from attaching to you and your vehicle on the drive home!)
Regular grooming greatly reduces SHEDDING!
The bathing and active drying process helps loosen and remove dead hair and undercoat, therefore allowing the natural oils in the skin to work their way through the hair resulting in a healthier, shinier, coat! The loose clumps of hair found all over your furniture can be greatly reduced with regular grooming!
Next, unless otherwise requested there will be a bow/barrett attached to the collar or a bandana/scarf will be tied around the neck with a rubber band to assure easy removal! A seasonal perfume may be applied only to the bandana. (The high quality shampoo/conditioners smell so good there is usually no need for more scent!)
If your dogs paws are dry, cracked or irritated in any way there will be a special "paw wax" applied to help soothe, heal and moisturize them. Our best friends are born with only one set of shoes, why not keep them in the best shape possible!
Last of all, a digital photo will be taken of your dog and shown in our "PAWSitive" gallery and also for you to have the option of purchasing a 4x6 or 8x10 to show off to your friends and family!
